Video Editor & YouTube Producer (Full-time position funded through June 30, 2027)
WABE Studios is seeking an experienced Video Editor & YouTube Producer to edit weekly video podcast episodes of Health Wanted and help maximize audience engagement across YouTube and social media platforms. While this will be a full-time position, it is funded through June 30, 2027 and may conclude on this date. The position may also be extended beyond this date if funding is secured.
The ideal candidate is more than an editor—they understand what makes audiences click, watch, and share. They have experience helping build and grow successful YouTube channels, can package content for maximum performance, and know how to balance engaging storytelling with factual, science-based reporting.
This role requires a highly self-sufficient creative who can work independently, meet tight weekly deadlines, respond quickly to feedback, and take ownership of the post-production process from edit through publication support.
Accountabilities:- Edit weekly long-form video podcast episodes for YouTube and other digital platforms. Enhance episodes with relevant b-roll, graphics, visual storytelling elements, captions, animations, and other creative assets that improve viewer engagement while maintaining factual accuracy. Create compelling short-form content, including vertical clips for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and other social platforms. Edit non-episode video related to Health Wanted, like sizzle reels or promos. Design engaging YouTube thumbnails that drive clicks while accurately representing the content. Assist with YouTube packaging, including titles, descriptions, SEO optimization, tags, and chapter markers/timecodes. Collaborate with producers and host Laurel Bristow to ensure episodes remain informative, accurate, and visually engaging. Manage multiple edits and revisions while maintaining weekly production deadlines. Incorporate notes and feedback quickly and professionally. Stay current on YouTube trends, audience retention strategies, platform best practices, and evolving content formats. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience editing long-form YouTube content, podcasts, interview programs, or digital series. Demonstrated experience managing, growing, or contributing to a successful YouTube channel. Strong portfolio showcasing engaging long-form edits, short-form clips, and YouTube content packaging. Advanced proficiency in Avid Media Composer and Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Media Encoder. Strong understanding of YouTube audience retention, pacing, visual storytelling, and platform optimization. Experience creating thumbnails, titles, and metadata that improve video performance. Ability to source and incorporate factual, editorially appropriate b-roll and visual elements. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills and ability to respond to notes in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience editing science, health, educational, news-adjacent, or documentary content. Experience working with podcast-based video productions. Knowledge of YouTube Analytics and performance reporting. Motion graphics and animation experience. Familiarity with public media, journalism, or educational content standards. Experience creating content for multiple platforms including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and streaming platforms.

The successful candidate will help Health Wanted continue to grow its digital audience by creating polished, engaging, and informative content that increases watch time, audience retention, subscriptions, and overall engagement while maintaining the editorial integrity of the series.
About Health Wanted Health Wanted is a weekly public health podcast and video series from WABE and the Emory Rollins School of Public Health. Hosted by epidemiologist and infectious disease researcher Laurel Bristow, MSc, the series breaks down the science behind today's biggest health stories, interviews leading experts, and helps audiences better understand the world around them. The show reaches audiences across podcast platforms, YouTube, social media, radio, and streaming, and we're looking for an experienced editor who can help grow the series through engaging, informative, and highly shareable video content.

Candidates must be willing to work in a hybrid environment but provide their own transportation to the station. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support departmental events or during high-volume periods (membership campaigns).
