Company Overview

Doña Carmen Foods, A Division of The Tamale Factory began operations in 2001 when we opened our first USDA inspected facility in Atlanta , GA. Within the first year of business we were operating at maximum capacity and had to up relocate to a larger facility. In addition to relocating we also made major equipment upgrades that would enable uninterrupted growth.

We are currently selling our products Nation Wide in several Retail Chain Stores. Our growth outlook for 2006 is very strong.

Company History

Company Time Line:
(2001 - 2004)

November 2001 - Company formed with intent to manufacture and distribute authentic hand wrapped tamales. Company leased a small USDA inspected facility in a suburban area of Atlanta and began producing tamales by hand.

April 2002 - Company added Automated Co-Extrusion equipment to increase production in order to supply a large Hispanic Food Distributor.

June 2002 - Company began producing All-Natural Tamales using meats without prophylactic antibiotics or supplemental hormones for Natural Food Grocery Chain. Product is distributed nationwide via Regional Distributors.

December 2002 - Company began planning for a larger facility.

Feb 2003 - Company moved to a 25, 000 sq ft USDA facility. Further automation of our manufacturing processes was added. Other improvements in packaging and processing were made.

March 2003 - Company begins servicing the C-Store market in Atlanta , GA.

June 2003 - Product development began on additional products: Pupusas and Empanadas

September 2003 - Company opened new Offices and distribution warehouse to serve the local C-Store market. New company owned Frozen Trucks were added.

November 2003 - New Appetizer size tamale developed for catering and food service applications.

January 2004 - Company expanded frozen food offerings to include burritos, tacos and other Mexican specialties. A full line of Hispanic snacks, grocery and beverage products we added for distribution to the C-Store market.

April 2004 - New product launch of pupusas and empanadas into Mid-Atlantic Region.

May 2004 - New Product development of All Natural Food Service Enchiladas.

June 2004 - Further Expansion into the C-Store Market in Metro Atlanta . Additional Sales Staff added. Implemented new technologies that include wireless remote order entry, sales force automation, vehicle routing and tracking and inventory management.
